I’m going to confess that I love feeling productive. I love feeling like I’ve accomplished something or done something beneficial. Podcasts give me that feeling. That I’ve-just-cleaned-the-whole-house feeling!
I’ve been listening to online sermons from my previous church since I moved. I’m so thankful for technology. Seriously. The ability to stay connected is so comforting and it helps so much in times of transition. The ability to stay fed until finding a new church home helped keep me focused. The transition wasn’t easy. I went to church after church not finding any that felt right. And, honestly, giving up to stay in on many Sundays which made me question, “Who am I?” That’s not me at all.
I had discovered how much I enjoyed staying connected through online sermons. I also discovered just how easy it is to fit into my life.
I listen in my car. I’m in my car a lot for work so that is super easy. And it makes my drive time seem more productive and interesting. I used to fill my time with the radio but sometimes I get sick of every single song on the radio so this is a great alternative.
I also listen while getting ready in the morning. I love to multitask so this is an excellent way to do that.
I even listen on occasion while working out in the morning. It doesn’t quite get me pumped up in the way that Imagine Dragons can but when I am so engrossed in a series that I just have to listen, I’ll fit it in anywhere.
When could you fit it into your life?
One day a business colleague recommended getting an actual podcast app. She shared with me who she was listening to and I knew it was time to jump on the bandwagon with the cool kids.
So I downloaded Podcast Player and found two podcasts to subscribe to right from the start.
Craig Groeschel and Proverbs 31 have been awesome. Craig’s podcast is business oriented and Proverbs 31 is “biblical truth for any girl in any season.” That’s their tagline. So cute. I’ve enjoyed listening to each of them speak as well as the guests that they host regularly. So much wisdom and truth. With Proverbs 31 it feels like I have girlfriends just chatting with me. I’m all about surrounding myself with people who make me better so this is a great way to do that. My number of friends feels endless.
Just recently a friend on Facebook recommended Rachel Hollis’ Rise podcast.
Shout out to Facebook for keeping me connected to friends. So thankful. Again, technology for the win.
So I immediately subscribed and listened to two of her podcasts that day.
Her podcasts are almost a combination of the two others. They are business savvy but also like hearing from a wise girlfriend. Love it.
Podcasts have been comforting, encouraging, and informational for me. It’s been super easy to fit them into my life and I’m glad I did.
